II SILVERVINTAGE TROPHY
(Turin, river Po, November 5-6, 2022)
RACE REGULATIONS
These regulations are an integral part of the set of rules in approved by the Italian Rowing Federation on 2022-08-08.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS
For those coming by motorway A55 or A6, exit for Turin, Corso Unità d’Italia. Stay straight till you arrive at the underpass, then keep going straight ahead for Corso Massimo d’Azeglio; at the end of it, take a right turn onto Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. 100 meters ahead, take a right turn at the Triumphal Arc and enter the Parco del Valentino.
Cameras recording the vehicles entering the Park will be turned off from Thursday 3td to Monday 7th November between 6.00 AM and 10.00 PM.
For those coming by motorway A1, proceed onto the orbital road North (Tangenziale NORD) following signs for Savona. Stay on it for about 20 km and then exit for Corso Unità d’Italia and follow as above.
For those coming by motorway A10, once passed the tollbooth of Bruere, proceed onto the orbital road North (Tangenziale Nord) following signs for Savona. Stay on it for about 15 km and then exit for Corso Unità d’Italia and follow as above.
LOCATION OF THE REGISTRATION OFFICE
The registration office will be located at the RSC Cerea in Turin, Viale Virgilio 61.
BOAT PARK
As per the attached plans, respect the positioning indicated by the organization in compliance with the Covid protocol.
TRAINING
The race course will be open to practice in the following hours:
on Saturday 5th November 2022 from 10.00 to 12.00 AM, two motorboats will be checking the race course of the KinderSkiff to allow the athletes to try the course in full safety;
on Saturday 5th November 2022, training sessions will also be permitted 15 minutes after the arrival of the last athlete of the Kinderskiff and till 5.00 PM (please note that no motorboats will be checking the course during this second training session);
on Sunday 6th November 2022 from 8.00 to 9.00 AM.
A motorboat will be located right ahead the Murazzi bridge to avoid boats to trespass this limit.
Medical assistance will be available in the forementioned training hours.
LIGHTWEIGHT WEIGHT-IN
The lightweight weigh-in will take place on Sunday morning from 8.00 to 9.00 AM in the gym located on the first floor of the R.S.C. Cerea with the following rules: male PL max weight 74 Kg, female PL max weight 60.5 Kg. Athletes not attending or not passing the control will be entered in the Senior or Under 23 categories according to age. The weigh-in operations will take place in compliance with the provisions of the Covid protocol, attached to the notice of race.
NUMBER CARDS
All competitors will be issued bow number cards for free. These number cards don’t have to be returned after the race. The representatives of Clubs who are responsible for the registration will be handed all the number cards assigned to the club’s athletes.
IDENTITY CHECKS BEFORE ACCESS TO LAUNCHING SITES
Representatives of the Clubs must be present on site and display the IDs to the umpire in charge of the control, in the presence of all the crew members.
USE OF DOCKS
As per the map displayed on the web site of the Italian Rowing Federation, access to and exit from the race course is only allowed using the labelled docks.
Docks are to be used only for the purpose of the race and any further use is forbidden. The access to them will be authorized by the Umpire just before the race according to the card number and in compliance with the Covid protocol.
We recommend to follow the instructions of the staff, limiting as much as possible the occupation of the docks and in compliance with the Covid protocol. Please do not leave any object on the docks.
In case of crowding of the docks, the launching crews have the priority.
RACE COURSE
SILVERSKIFF: River Po, starting from the R.S.C. Cerea, going up the river to the half-way buoy at Moncalieri Island and back to the R.S.C. Cerea. The entire course is 11,000 metres long.
KINDERSKIFF: River Po, categories Allievi B1 e B2 starting from the R.S.C. Cerea, going up the river to the buoy near the first bridge (Isabella bridge) and back to the R.S.C. Cerea. The entire course is 1,000 metres long.
Then, River Po, SILVERVINTAGE categories Under 50 and Over 50 female and male: starting from the R.S.C. Cerea, going up the river to the buoy near the Piscina Lido and back to R.S.C. Cerea. The entire course is 4,000 meters long.
Then, River Po, categories Allievi C e Cadetti starting from the R.S.C. Cerea, going up the river to the buoy near the Piscina Lido and back to the R.S.C. Cerea. The entire course is 4,000 metres long.
The scullers will assemble in the starting area in numerical order and then proceed to the starting line divided in two rows with the odd numbers on the right side and the even numbers on the left side; they will have to follow the instructions given by the Marshal.
The course of the race goes upstream up to a half-way buoy, turns to the left around it, and returns downstream to the R.S.C. Cerea. The river will be divided longitudinally by a row of buoys for about 750 metres for the first part of the course and consequently also for the return. Going up the course the scullers should keep to their right (which is the orographical right bank of the river or the hill side). After the buoy turn they should continue to keep to their right (which is the city side of the river or the orographical left side). The correct passage under the arches of the 3 bridges over the course is indicated by signboards. If the correct arch is not taken, the sculler will be disqualified. In case of overtaking, the sculler who is being overtaken should give way without obstructing the overtaking boat. A sculler continuously failing to yield may incur disqualification. It is forbidden to overtake 50 meters before or after the half-way buoy and in close proximity of obstacles (bridge arches, tight turns). Every participant will be given a copy of the traffic rules, which will be available for consultation also on the race web-site. SILVERVINTAGE REGULATION
The SILVERVINTAGE is a historic regatta for wooden singles produced before 1992, the year in which the first edition of the SilverSkiff regatta was held, to which this event is inextricably linked.
Participants must use vintage or historically inspired rowing clothing; in any case, clothing in lycra or other synthetic fabrics is not allowed.
Boats:
SilverVintage is allowed only vintage wooden boats, so-called VINTAGE SKIFF, built up to 1991, with wooden trolley and pedal board with laces or sandal with velcro, aluminum oarlocks and wooden oars with macon shovel.
In the event that a participant uses inappropriate clothing or equipment different from what is indicated above, he will suffer a penalty of 20 seconds for each prescription not respected.
DEPARTURE ORDER
Those scullers whose previous year course time was equal to or minor than 55 minutes, will start according to the order of arrival of the previous year, regardless of the category. The remaining participants will be drawn by lot from the various categories in the following order: MSA, MU23, MU23LW, MLW, MJ, MR, WSA, WU23, WU23LW, WLW, WJ, WR and MASTER starting from the A Category and alternating Men and Women.
For the Kinder Skiff, the departure will take place according to the arrival order of the previous year regardless of the category. The remaining participants will be drawn by lot, starting from the Cad. M, All. CM, cad. W, All. CW, All. BM and All. BW.
For SilverVintage the starting order will be by drawing lots.
The COL reserves the right to include in the first group of starters of the SilverSkiff athletes with a prestigious sporting curriculum and participants for the first time in the SilverSkiff.
PENALTIES
Apart from the most severe penalties against blatant and repeated disregard of the Racing Code, the Jury will award the following cumulative time penalties, to be added to the final racing time:
– short delay at the launching site: 5”
– mild infractions to the traffic rules and to the use of the docks: 5”
– delay to the call of the Marshall or the Starter: 10”
– non-yield interference: mild 20”, continued 40”
– collision: 60”
Repeated or severe interference and severe collision may result in disqualification at the discretion of the Jury.
Late arriving boats will be given the start at the discretion of the Starter, either at the end of their category or at the end of the regatta.
AWARD CEREMONY
The AWARD CEREMONY will take place at the R.S.C. Cerea and in compliance with the Covid protocol:
– 1 hour after the arrival of the last KinderSkiff and the last SilverVintage
– 30 minutes after the last finish, for the athletes categories of the SilverSkiff (jun A and B, Under23, Under23 P.L., P.L., Senior) male and female;
– un’ora dopo l’ultimo arrivo del SilverSkiff per tutte le categorie Master maschili e
femminili.
The deadline for appeals is 30 minutes after results have been posted on the notice board and on the web-site.
CANCELLATION OF THE RACES
In case of bad conditions of the river, the organizing committee will be allowed to modify the race course giving immediate and precise notification. The race will be cancelled only in case of very severe weather or course conditions. In this case, the entry fees will not be refunded.
In case of cancellation of the race due to the Covid-19 emergency, the registration fees will be recognized for the year 2023 or returned.
