THE REGATTA ANNOUNCEMENT


The F. I. C., - the Italian Rowing Federation -, and the Reale Sociatà Canottieri Cerea of Turin, with the contribution of the Rowing Clubs Circolo Amici del Fiume, Circolo Amici del Remo, Sisport FIAT, Società Canottieri Armida, Società Canottieri Caprera and the collaboration of the Piedmontese Regional Committee of the F.I.C., have organised on Saturday, 8th November and Sunday, 9th November, 2008 the following races:

The SILVER SKIFF race:
Sunday, 9th November, 2008
A time endurance race on the distance of 11 km for single scullers, men and women, of the following categories:
Juniors A and B, Under 23, Seniors, Lightweights, Masters (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H).

The KINDER SKIFF race:
Saturday, 8th November, 2008
A time endurance race on the distance of 4 km, in 7,20 singles, for boys and girls of Category C ( born in 1995 ) and of the Cadetti Category ( born in 1994 ).

1. THE COURSES OF THE RACES
1.1. The SILVER SKIFF race.
On the river Po, starting from the Cerea R. C., going up the river to the half-way buoy at Moncalieri Island and back to the Cerea. R. C. The whole course is 11,000 metres long.

1.2 The KINDER SKIFF race
On the river Po, starting from the Cerea R. C., going up the river to the buoy in front of the Piscina Lido and back to the Cerea R. C.. The whole course is 4,000 metres long. The map of the course can be obtained from any of the Turin Rowing Clubs. It will also be given to each sculler before the race.

2. QUALIFICATIONS AND LIMITATIONS FOR PARTICIPANTS
Any male or female sculler of the above-mentioned categories affiliated for the year 2007 to the Italian Rowing Federation or to the Rowing Association of his/her country can be entered. The 2008 membership card of the Rowing Association to which they belong must be presented together with a valid Identity Card or Passport.

3. CANCELLATION OF THE RACES
The Regatta may be cancelled if the weather and/or the river conditions are unacceptable.

4. REGISTRATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE COMPETITION – THE REGATTA COMMITTEE


THE SILVER SKIFF
Registration on Saturday 8th November, 2008 at 16.30 at the Cerea Rowing Club. Race time: Sunday 9th November, 2008, at 9.45: assembly of the scullers in the starting area down river from the Cerea Rowing Club; from 10.00 onwards departures every 20 seconds.

THE KINDER SKIFF

Registration on Saturday 8th November 2008 at 10.00 at the Cerea Rowing Club. Race time, Saturday 9th November, 2008 at 13.15: assembly of the scullers in the starting area down river from the Cerea Rowing Club; from 13.30 onwards departures every 20 seconds. Any other information that may be useful to the scullers during the Race will be put up on the Cerea R. C. notice board and sent by fax to the other Turin Rowing Clubs. A commentator will repeat instructions on the loudspeaker.

The Race Organisers will issue the Program that will be put up on the Cerea R. C. notice board. A copy of the program will also be given to each sculler on his/her arrival. A meeting of the Regatta Committee can be called by the President of the Jury whenever it is deemed necessary or if a third of the participants makes a request to the President.

5. ENTRIES
The closing time for entries is on Wednesday, 31st October, 2007, at midnight.
Entry forms should be filled in and sent by rhe entry form on web site
The entry forms should be accompanied by the entry fee of € 20.00 for each sculler entering the SILVER SKIFF race and € 5.00 for each sculler entering the KINDER SKIFF race. Bank and postal cheques must be made out to the R. Società Canottieri Cerea. The entry fees can be also paid at the time of the sculler’s arrival.

6. WITHDRAWALS
Any withdrawal should be faxed by 20.00 Tuesday, 4th November, 2008. Failing to do so will mean that the relevant rowing club will incur the penalty foreseen by the Code of Regattas.

7. THE REGATTA COMMITTEE MEETING
The Committee of the Regatta will meet at 21.00 on Tuesday, 4th November, 2008 at the RSC Cerea for a check on the Regatta organization and a counting up of the entries.

8. PRIZES
The first-placed woman sculler and the first-placed man sculler in the SILVER SKIFF race will receive a Prize in gold coins of the value of 800,00 Euro, to the second placed 400,00 Euro and to the third placed 300,00 Euro.
An special prize in gold coins of the value of 1.000,00 Euro will be awarded to the sculler who sets up a record on the SILVER SKIFF course. A mountain bike will be awarded to the first-placed girl and boy scullers of the Kinder Skiff race. Cups will be awarded to all first-placed woman and man scullers of all categories.
Medals of 1st/2nd/3rd level will be awarded to the first, second and third-placed scullers of each category.
The RICCARDO STEINLEITNER MEMORIAL TROPHY will be awarded to the Club which has won the highest number of prizes, according to rules that will be stated further on. The winning Club will be awarded a silver picture frame with the reproduction of the Trophy and the Club nameplate; this frame can be taken to the home club. The Trophy will be awarded permanently to the Club which has won the race three times even if not consecutively.
This classification will take into account the number and the total score of the Kinder and SILVER SKIFF participants; the first-placed winners will be awarded 5 points, the second-placed 3 points and the third 2 points. The scullers that complete the course will be awarded 1 point. The organizing club is excluded from the classification.

The sculler who wins the SILVER SKIFF race three times ( not necessarily consecutively ) will be awarded the attractive SILVER SKIFF TROPHY.
A special Trophy will be awarded to the sculler, already winner of previous SILVER SKIFF TROPHY, who will get other three victories.
The winner of the SILVER SKIFF race will be awarded a special watch when he/she wins the race nine times ( not necessarily in succession ).
An announcement will be given about further prizes on the day of the races.
The PRIZE GIVING will take place at the CEREA R. C. at the end of the races ( 1 hour after the last KINDER SKIFF arrival and 1 hour and a half after the last SILVER SKIFF arrival ).

9. LOGISTICS AND ANY OTHER BUSINESS
The race numbers that will be given to each sculler are provided by the organization. The scullers will be directed to the Assembly Area in the order assigned to them as indicated on the roll-call.
The course of the race goes up river to a half-way buoy, turning to the left around it and returns down river back to the CEREA R.C.. The river will be divided longitudinally by a row of buoys for about 750 metres for the first part of the course and consequently also for the return. Going up the course the scullers should keep to their right ( which is the orographical right bank of the river or the hill side ). After the buoy turn they should continue to keep to their right ( which is the city side of the river or the orographical left side ). The correct passage under the arches of the 3 bridges over the course is indicated by signboards. If the correct arch is not taken, the sculler will be disqualified. In case of overtaking, the sculler who is being overtaken should give way without obstructing the overtaking boat. 10. DEPARTURE ORDER
The scullers who’s previous year course time was equal to or minor of sixty minutes, will start according to the order of the arrivals of the previous year, regardless of the different categories, The remaining participants will be drawn by lot from the various categories as follows: Senior Man, Under 23 Man, Junior Man, Lightweight Man, Senior Woman, Under 23 W, Junior W, Lightweight Woman, RM,RW, ES M, ES W, aster starting from the A Category and alternating Men and Women.
The Kinder Skiff departure will take place according to the arrival order of the previous year regardless of the categories. The remaining participants will be drawn by lot, starting from the Cadets Boys, all C. M., Cad F, all C.F., all B boys and all B Girls.

11. MARSHALLING
Marshalling is under the responsibility of the Managing Marshall Committee of the F.I.C., the Italian Rowing Federation.

12. ASSISTANCE
The assistance and first aid service provided during the event will start 30 minutes before the departure of the scullers and will finish 30 minutes after the last arrival. 12 motorboats with security tools will assist the race. Attendees, radio serviced, will assist the race from several points.

13. TIMING
This will be done by the Federazione Italiana Cronometristi. Anything not mentioned in this announcement will follow the regulations of the Codice delle Regate of the Italian Rowing Federation.
